Overview

Experience the exciting and adventurous activities that can be offered in varying climates and Geography around the Island of Sri Lanka. On the trip you'll see Negombo fishing village which is famed for its good seafood, especially shell fish. Extensive coconut cultivation and toddy tapping can be seen too. Negombo was an important cinnamon growing Centre in Dutch and Portuguese times (16th to 17th Centuries). There is also a 17th Century Dutch Fort and Church. 

One of the highlights of the trip is Trincomalee, which is commonly known as port city in the North Eastern province of Sri Lanka. Trinco has been a seaport since the days of the ancient kings and one of the British emperor’s most important port in Asia during the Second World War. The bay of Trincomalee harbor which is natural deep water is renowned for its large size and security. The city also has some of the most scenic beaches in the island, led by Nilaveli which is renowned for its breathtakingly beautiful sandy white beach. Surfing, fishing and whale watching are some of the more popular activities among locals and tourists alike.      

The trip also includes a day in Kandy, which was established in the 25th century was the last royal capital of Sri Lanka and was also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998. Kandy is one of the most scenic places in Sri Lanka and is located between mountains and is elevated about 500 meters above sea level. The city is famous for the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha as well as the Kandy Esala Perahara which is the pageant of the Temple of the Tooth and takes place during the months of July or August each year and has over 100 caparisoned elephants parading the city accompanied by dancers and drummers.

Itinerary

We will be adding a Sri Lankan Police input into our October Tour, more details will be shown in your joining pack.

Day 1: Arrive by evening flight.  Meet greet and assist arrival transfer to the Camelot Beach Hotel.  Rest and relax.  Dinner and overnight stay at Camelot Beach Hotel.

Day 2: After early breakfast, visit the Negombo fishing village which is famed for its good seafood, especially shell fish. Extensive coconut cultivation and toddy tapping can be seen too. Negombo was an important cinnamon growing Centre in Dutch and Portuguese times (16th to 17th Centuries). There is also a 17th Century Dutch Fort and Church.  Thereafter, proceed to Sigiriya and check in to the Amaara Forest.  Lunch at hotel.  Afternoon climb Sigiriya Rock fortress and see the 1500 year old frescoes. Evening descend and return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.                                  

Day 3: After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Rock Temple and the famous Dambulla Caves. Dambulla is home to the most impressive of the many cave temples found in Sri Lanka. There are five caves under a vast overhanging rock which towers 160 meters over the surrounding plains. The caves house over 150 statutes of lord Buddha, god and goddesses as well as a few kings who have been vital in Sri Lanka’s history. The Buddha Statues found inside the caves offer a large variety, both in term of size and attitude. Each of the ceilings in the five caves is covered with intricate and detailed religious paintings. One cave has over 1500 paintings of Buddha covering it. 

Thereafter proceed to Kandy. Enroute visit a Spice Garden / have a Sri Lankan Rice & Curry Lunch at Ranweli Spice Garden. Sri Lanka is famous for its spices and gardens. These spice gardens offers tourists memorable visits to various spice plantations in Sri Lanka. During early historical times Sri Lanka known as Taprobane, was world renowned for its Quality Spices. During ancient times the Greeks Romans and the Arabs maintained their links with Sri Lanka through the spice trade.  

After lunch, visit a Batik factory and continue to Kandy and check-in to the Senani Hotel. Evening, see Folk Lore and Kandyan dances Cultural show. Thereafter, visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.  Late evening, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4:  After early breakfast, proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and see feeding and bathing of baby Elephants. This is the only place of captive elephants in the world and is situated in the Northwestern town of Kegalle. This orphanage was originally founded to provide care and support for the many orphaned elephants in the jungle. Since then it has also become a breeding ground for elephants. Most elephants found in the orphanage are healthy. Lunch at Pinnalanda Restaurant overlooking the scenic river. 

After lunch, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Thereafter, Shopping of Souvenirs, Gems, Batiks, Handicrafts, Curios, Brass and Silver wares and Garments. Late evening return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5: After breakfast, proceed to Galle. Galle is the capital of the southwestern province of Sri Lanka and is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South East Asia. Among the many attractions found in the city is the Galle lighthouse, Galle Dutch fort, which is a world heritage site and the largest standing fortress that was built by Europeans in Asia and the national maritime museum, which showcases a variety of artifacts from maps and naval crafts to sailor shoes. After lunch, check-in to the The Long Beach. Rest and relax on the beach or pool. Dinner and overnight stay at Amari Galle.

Day 6: After breakfast, at leisure on the beach or pool. Lunch at hotel. Evening, visit the 17th Century Galle Dutch Fort and see the ancient buildings, Old Dutch Churches, Gracious old Dutch houses, The Light House, ramparts, The marine Museum, Monuments with armorial bearings, Imposing crested and Monogrammed Gateway dated 1669 and many other interesting sights. Thereafter, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: After breakfast, proceed to Colombo thru the southern expressway.  Arrive in Colombo and have lunch in a local restaurant.  Sri Lanka’s commercial capital of Colombo is a multi cultural and multi ethnic city, which is also the islands largest and most populated city. Its large harbor ensured its popularity amongst the Arab, Chinese and Roman traders over 2000 years ago. Today it has the greatest level of infrastructure compared to any other city within the nation and easily holds the title of being the most modernized city in the island. 

After lunch, check-in to the Galadari Hotel.  Rest and relax.  Evening commence sightseeing of the city of Colombo.  Late evening, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: After early breakfast, proceed to Trincomalee.  Open luncheon.  After lunch, continue to Trincomalee and check-in to the Trinco Blu By Cinnamon. Trinco has been a seaport since the days of the ancient kings and one of the British emperor’s most important port in Asia during the Second World War. Rest and relax on the beach or pool.  Dinner and overnight stay at Trinco Blu By Cinnamon

Day 9: After breakfast, at leisure on the beach or pool.  Lunch at Hotel.  Evening commence sightseeing of Trincomalee.  Late evening, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: After early breakfast, proceed to Jaffna and check-in to the Jaffna City Hotel.  Lunch at Hotel.  Afternoon, commence sightseeing of Jaffna. The Nucleus of the northern peninsula of Sri Lanka not only a geographic but a cultural and ethnic entity as well.  Distinctive scenery and climate (Warm and dry).  Many interesting evidences of Portuguese and Dutch occupations of the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries. Ruined Portuguese church Myliddy 15 miles away and a church in typical Dutch style at Atchvely.  The Fort and church in Jaffna are the best preserved Dutch antiquities in Sri Lanka. 

Evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Breakfast / Lunch and a special Crab dinner made to choice. (Fresh Lagoon Crabs made to taste Chillie / Pepper / Ginger steamed OR Curry Crabs. Overnight stay at Jaffna City Hotel.

Day 12: After early breakfast, proceed to Negombo via Mannar.  In Mannar – visit places of interest and have lunch at a restaurant.  After lunch continue to Negombo. Evening arrive in Negombo and Check-in to the Camelot Beach Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13: After breakfast, proceed to Airport for the departure flight.
