Meeting at the Republic Square. Greet and meet the guide. Departure to Aragatsotn region. Drive to Amberd fortress, 9th century, stands halfway up Mt. Aragats, at the height of 2300m. The fortress stands on a rocky cape formed by the rivers Amberd and Arkhashen. There are also vestiges of a fortified three-storied palace, a church built in 1026, a palace bathhouse with two domes, a central heating system, water tanks, a water-supply system, and a secret passage to a nearby cleft, and other buildings.
Visit the Orgov Radio-Optical Telescope, also known as ROT54 or the Herouni Mirror Radio Telescope, is a radio telescope in Orgov, Armenia. It was built between 1975-1985 and was active between 1986-1990 before its use was halted. Free time for taking pictures and enjoy the place. Then we will proceed to the museum of Viktor Hambardzumyan.
Proceed to the Snails Factory where local people breed them. Here we will have a tour through the factory. Then, we will proceed to Chir’s House, which is also a unique place with full of activities ranging from lavash baking, animal husbandry to homemade wine tasting and sujuk making.
After we will visit Saghmosavank, a medieval monastery, situated in the breathtaking site, at the deep canyon of Ashtarak. Saghmosavank means ‘’monastery of the Psalms’’. After we will check-in at the hotel and have free time there. In the frames of Aragats Hotel, we can have different activities, such as trekking, cycling, etc. Then we will have a dinner.
Although it may seem that our day is close to end, we will continue our exploration
to Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory. Here we will watch through observatory to the stars.
Drive back to the Yerevan.
